Municipality of Janová
Janová (originally Johanová) lies about 4 km southeast of Vsetín at the mouth of the creek "Janovský potok" into the river "Vsetínská Bečva". The center of the village lies an altitude about 360 m above sea level, the highest altitude of 655 m above sea level reaches peak Lysný. The character of the surrounding landscape strongly influenced Wallachian glade colonization in the 16th century, which led to the emergence of a balanced and valuable cultural landscape with distinctive folk architecture. Typically, changing pasture forests, long, narrow valley with a ridge portion of which are distant views of the countryside. The exceptional natural values of the local cultural landscape balanced evidenced by the fact that much of the village lies in the Protected Landscape Area Beskydy.
